MBK Senior Living Acquires Senior Living Facility in Rocklin, California

IRVINE, CA (March 27, 2007) Irvine, California-based MBK Senior Living has announced the acquisition of Casa De Santa Fe, a 159-unit senior living community located in the city of Rocklin in Placer County, Calif., for an undisclosed amount. Acquiring Casa De Santa Fe marks the latest stage in MBK Senior Living’s aggressive business plan, which involves the acquisition and development of high-quality senior living assets with multiple levels of care in high growth markets throughout the Western United States.

“Casa De Santa Fe is a great example of the acquisition opportunities MBK Senior Living is targeting,” said Terry Howard, president of MBK Senior Living. “This is a community with a terrific reputation, in a prime location in one of Northern California’s fastest growing and affluent areas. Casa De Santa Fe is a great complement to our existing portfolio, and we look forward to meeting our mission to exceed the quality, service and care expectations of those we’re serving.

“We are also excited that the acquisition of Casa De Santa Fe marks our expansion into Northern California,” Howard adds, “a key market for MBK Senior Living to actively participate in, and a natural progression of our rapid growth path.”

Casa De Santa Fe is situated in the rolling hills of Rocklin, 20 miles northeast of Sacramento, Calif. The state-of-the-art facility opened in 2002, making it one of the newer senior living facilities in Placer County and the only class “A” asset in the Rocklin market. Offering multiple levels of care in separate buildings on one central six-acre campus, the facility includes 72 independent living units, 64 assisted living units and a memory care facility with 23 units. In addition, there is a 3,000 square foot community clubhouse that serves as the central activity and special event area for the independent living residents.

“Multiple levels of care in one campus setting is the ideal preference of choice for seniors by allowing them to age gracefully in one place, and move from one service level to another within a familiar location as their needs change,” notes Howard. “Residents prefer to have separate facilities for dining, social, cultural and recreational activities based upon their functional and cognitive abilities. Casa De Santa Fe is the only senior living facility in the competitive market area that offers independent living, assisted living and memory care in separate buildings on a campus setting.”

A unique feature at Casa De Santa Fe, and an unusual attribute to most senior living facilities, selected independent living units offer spacious living areas that include fully-equipped kitchens with granite slab countertops, fireplaces and attached garages. Additional onsite amenities at Casa De Santa Fe consist of three separate dining areas, private dining facilities, an exercise room, game room/theatre, spa and heated pool, beauty/barber shop, and onsite pharmacy services. Moreover, Casa De Santa Fe is further enhanced by the surrounding community of Rocklin, which offers the intimacy of a small town setting with the conveniences of big city living, and is located near golf courses, lakes and rivers, and the Roseville Galleria Mall.

Sacramento-based Eskaton currently manages Casa De Santa Fe, and MBK Senior Living has contracted the independent nonprofit corporation to continue its exemplary level of service to the senior residents.

MBK Senior Living’s portfolio offers today’s seniors multiple alternatives to typical retirement living. Their most recent acquisition prior to Casa De Santa Fe is Huntington Terrace, a 151-unit senior living community located in Huntington Beach, Calif. Since the revitalization of MBK’s Senior Living division in 2005, targeting assets in Orange County has been an essential aspect of their business plan, according to Howard. Huntington Terrace, which offers a combination of independent and assisted living in an enviable coastal location, consists of a three-story central building and three smaller casitas, situated on a four-acre campus that includes walking pathways to a waterfall, swimming pool, putting green, a community clubhouse with sundeck and a gazebo.
