California Assisted Living Association’s (cala) New Board of Directors

Irvine, California, January 27, 2010 – California Assisted Living Association (CALA) has announced the appointment of Danielle Morgan, vice president of Operations for MBK Senior Living to CALA’s board of directors. The board is comprised of 23 leaders from the foremost Assisted Living owners, operators and managers in California. She will begin her three-year term this month.

“Danielle Morgan’s selection as a new director was based upon her solid reputation in managing and directing senior living operations,” said Sally Michael, president of CALA. “Her experience in operations, budget management, sales and marketing, and human resources givers her the breadth of knowledge vital to this position.”

Morgan has over fifteen years of hands-on and leadership experience in all aspects of senior living. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Long Term Health Care from Ohio University, and an MBA from The Paul Merage School of Business at University of California, Irvine. She has a Gerontology Certificate and received an Award in Gerontology from the Ohio Department on Aging.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the board with such a dedicated group of industry experts,” said Morgan. “I will be involved with the Public Policy committee during my tenure. This committee diligently researches issues and makes recommendations to help shape policy that enables members to fulfill the housing, healthcare and personal care needs of our residents. I look forward to exchanging ideas and collaborating with the other directors and industry stakeholders.”

The selection process for board members includes recommendations, an interview and screening through CALA’s Nominating Committee, then approval by the full board of directors. The board sets the direction and priorities for the association’s activities, which include best practices benchmarking, professional growth workshops, grassroots action, trade shows and conferences, operational resources, public policy analysis, political action committee, and technical advisory groups.

CALA is the only association solely representing assisted living providers throughout the state. Established in 1995, its mission is to provide leadership, advocacy and education to preserve and promote consumer choice and excellent care and services in licensed Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly.
